Over the weekend, our fab house band, Liverpool, will be paying selections from Let It Be, cuts from the three monumental solo Beatles albums that came out in 1970, and playing dozens of other Beatles tunes. The band will also be leading the Grand Jam Finale with our musical guests on both Saturday and Sunday night.
The Apple Jam Stage, which is in its sixth year at the New York Metro Fest, will feature Cellophane Flowers, Scott Erickson, Andrew Weiss & Friends, The Wag, The Black Ties, Dora & Casey Hill, Phil Angotti, and Molly Jeanne and many more TBA
The Fest will also of course feature our traditions such as the Sound Alike contest on Saturday, the Battle of the Beatles Bands on Sunday, and the Beatles Art Contest. Express your creativity!
The weekend home to dozens of the most accomplished Beatles authors and historians in the world, the Fest will also host Beatles Yoga and Meditation, the Giant Beatles Marketplace, The Fest Shop, Beatles Photographers and Artists, Live Beatles Trivia Game Shows & Name That Tune, Beatles Auctions, Charity Raffles, the Beatles 60s Dance Party, Look-Alike & Dress-Up Contests, Beatles Karaoke, the Beatles Poetry Jam, and much more!
The FABoratory is back. In this magical space, you’re invited to dissect songs, play Beatles games, invent the future of being a Beatles fan, and use your imagination. Stop by any time to play, to leave your Magical Mystery theories and Mad Fab scientist notes on the wall.
FRIDAY, MARCH 27 – 5:00 PM TILL MIDNIGHT
SATURDAY, MARCH 28 – NOON TILL MIDNIGHT
SUNDAY, MARCH 29 – NOON TILL 10:30 PM
BILLY J. KRAMER will be at the Fest all weekend with his band, including Billy Joel’s former drummer Liberty DeVitto. Legends are hard to come by, but Billy J. is one of them. One of only two artists to have four songs written for them by Lennon/McCartney (Peter & Gordon was the other). Billy took Do You Want To Know A Secret to No. 1 in the UK, knocking the Beatles out of the top spot! Other hits by Billy include Bad To Me, I’ll Keep You Satisfied.
LAURENCE JUBER joined Wings as Lead Guitarist the same time Steve Holley joined. They were both brought into the band by Denny Laine. Laurence is one of our all time favorite guitarists, and you will hear why. Over the years, Laurence has released three albums of acoustic Beatles tunes and one of Wings tunes. Laurence has a brand new Beatles album coming out just before the FEST, called The Fab Fourth.
LIVERPOOL, our amazing Beatles cover band, will be in concert all three nights. In honor of its 50th anniversary, the guys will be performing selections from Let It Be. They will also be paying tribute to the 50th anniversary of three incredible Beatles solo albums by playing cuts from All Things Must Pass, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, and McCartney. Liverpool will be playing the Friday night dance party and will be thrilling attendees with their note-for-note renditions of many more Beatles hits and deeper Beatles cuts all weekend.
MARK RIVERA is Ringo’s musical director and one of the top sax players in the business. Mark’s first solo album, Common Bond, continues to receive accolades. Ringo and Billy Joel, whose band Mark has been part of for decades, both play on the album! Mark was the one who arranged the ‘secret’ 70th birthday surprise for Ringo in 2010, when Paul came out and performed Birthday at Radio City Music Hall.
THE WEEKLINGS will be playing songs that were written but never officially released by the Beatles, their infectious Beatle-inspired originals, and other Beatles cuts on Sunday. The guys will have a new single and new album by the time they hit the Fest stage! This is their sixth year with us and it is exciting to see their popularity increase since then, getting lots of airplay on Little Steven’s Underground Garage, and even on Chris Carter’s Breakfast With The Beatles, on The Beatles Channel!
DON DANNEMANN was the original lead singer of The Cyrkle (Red Rubber Ball & Turn Down Day). They were the only American artist ever managed by Brian Epstein. The band was on The Beatles’ final tour in 1966, including their final ever official concert at Candlestick Park in August of that year. A terrific storyteller, Don will be at the Fest on Sunday only.
SCOTT FREIMAN is a composer, a musician, and a software entrepreneur. He is the creator of Deconstructing The Beatles, a series of multimedia presentations about the composition and production techniques of the Fab Four.
